During the holy month of Ramadan many UAE residents are fasting throughout the day.

Muslim tradition recommends to break the fast with dates and two glasses of water.

As a natural source of glucose, dates help the body cells to store fluids, which helps to increase the uptake of sodium and, therefore, water in the intestines.

The breaking fast ritual includes also saying the Maghrib prayer, before sitting down for the Iftar. This time allows the water-date concoction to work it's magic. Drink the second glass of water just before starting your meal for the best effect.

For non-muslims this tradition can be turned in a morning ritual, done before the first meal of the day.
